The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers moves in looking to clinch but Paiva pushes him off.
Rogers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Paiva avoids the head kick by Rogers.
Rogers misses with a head kick.
Rogers throws a sloppy head kick and Paiva moves out of range easily.
Rogers tries to close the distance and clinch but Paiva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rogers tries a head kick but it misses.
Jammy Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rogers doesn't manage to clinch there - Paiva circles away.

Rogers throws the kick towards the body but Paiva avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paiva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rogers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Paiva on the ground.
Paiva stands and throws Rogers's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Paiva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rogers, who protects the arm well.
Rogers throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Rogers trying his best to control but Paiva has mounted him.
Paiva looking to isolate an arm here. Rogers doesn't see it coming and as Paiva extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Paiva!
