PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and rich franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duggan comes into the arena with Tiesto- Escape Me blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duggan dives in and grabs franklin's left leg, looking for a takedown. franklin pushes down on Duggan's head and hops out.
Duggan slaps away a takedown attempt from franklin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Duggan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Duggan checks a leg kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from franklin is defended easily by Duggan.

Duggan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
franklin wants to control from the top but Duggan keeps moving.

Duggan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. franklin is aware though and is defending well.

franklin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duggan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

franklin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Let's hope that franklin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
franklin is trying to stick to Duggan's back but Duggan is turning into franklin. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in franklin's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Duggan.

Duggan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. franklin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

and franklin counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Duggan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and franklin defends well.
franklin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
franklin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

franklin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

franklin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Duggan seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Duggan sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

franklin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Duggan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
franklin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duggan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
franklin wanted to stand there but Duggan had control of the position.

Duggan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but franklin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
