PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell Parsons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Wrestler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parsons's entrance music is face the pain. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Wrestler!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wrestler fails with a takedown attempt.

Wrestler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

I looks like Wrestler might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Parsons is trying to control but can't.
Wrestler content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Parsons is trying to get back to full guard.
Wrestler lands strikes from half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wrestler not doing much here.
Parsons is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wrestler trying to mount his opponent but Parsons defends it.

Wrestler missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Wrestler is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Wrestler is nestled in close to Parsons, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wrestler thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wrestler content to control rather than advance.
Parsons is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Wrestler dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Parsons doesn't manage to clinch there - Wrestler circles away.
Wrestler misses with a takedown attempt - Parsons sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Despite being in the dominant position, Tommy Wrestler just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Parsons has his takedown stuffed

and Wrestler counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Parsons's guard now.
Wrestler distracts Parsons with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Wrestler postures up in Parsons's guard and throws a big left but Parsons blocks it.
Wrestler throws a strike but Parsons rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Wrestler pushes Parsons off and gets back to his feet.

Parsons tries to clinch but Wrestler moves away

and Wrestler counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wrestler scoring with strikes to the body and head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wrestler throwing shots but Parsons is blocking nicely.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wrestler tries to pass to full mount but Parsons defends it.
Wrestler wants to control but Parsons is keeping him busy.
Parsons moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wrestler trying to control but Parsons is working from the bottom.
Wrestler working some strikes from top position.
Wrestler loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wrestler trying to stand up but can't free himself from Parsons's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Wrestler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

so Wrestler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wrestler throwing strikes but missing.
Wrestler sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wrestler trying to control but Parsons is working from the bottom.
Wrestler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parsons swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wrestler sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Parsons working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wrestler.
Wrestleris looking to pass into half guard but Parsons pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Parsons is in guard.

Wrestler wants to sweep but no luck.
Wrestler wants to stand up but Parsons is controlling him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Parsons shoots and misses

so Wrestler counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wrestler showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Wrestler trying to control but Parsons is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tommy Wrestler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Wrestler winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
