PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tre Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aiden Bettin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tre Dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aiden Bettin!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dos Santos fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Bettin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dos Santos sprawls well. Dos Santos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bettin gets slowly back to his feet.
Bettin fails with a takedown attempt.

Dos Santos closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dos Santos lands in his opponent's guard.

Bettin looking for a sweep. Not yet Bettin, not yet.
Dos Santos has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Bettin is adopting a defensive guard.

Dos Santos wants to control from the top but Bettin keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dos Santos tries to close the distance and clinch but Bettin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bettin shoots in looking for a takedown. Dos Santos tries to sprawl out of it but Bettin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dos Santos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tre Dos Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aiden Bettin.
Bettin misses with a head kick.
Dos Santos lands with a kick to the temple. Bettin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Bettin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dos Santos circles away.
Dos Santos shoots in for a takedown but Bettin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bettin tries to clinch but Dos Santos moves out of range.
Bettin looks for the body kick but Dos Santos saw that one coming.

so Bettin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bettin controls from within his opponent's guard.
Dos Santos working a defensive guard but Bettin manages to pass into side control anyway.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bettin has eaten all the pies!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bettin controlling from side mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Dos Santos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dos Santos is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bettin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Dos Santos is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bettin takes a little break here. Dos Santos wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Dos Santos wants to get back to his feet.
Dos Santos tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bettin presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Dos Santos defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bettin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aiden Bettin dominated that round.

Dos Santos clinches but Bettin breaks the clinch

and Bettin counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Dos Santos's guard now.
Dos Santos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bettin lands a couple of digs.
Dos Santos wants to stand but Bettin is controlling the position.
Bettin chips away with some ground and pound.
Dos Santos wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Bettin is now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bettin connects with a nice short shot to Dos Santos's temple.
Bettin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Aiden Bettin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dos Santos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bettin lands strikes from half guard.
Dos Santos is trying to maintain the position but Bettin is very close to passing his half guard.

Dos Santos tries to lock up and control but Bettin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

It looks like Tre Dos Santos has been cut.

Dos Santos has given up his back here.
Bettin just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Dos Santos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bettin on the ground.
Bettin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Bettin keeps control of the position as Dos Santos tries to break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Dos Santos rolls, trying to escape but Bettin keeps control of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bettin scores with punches and elbows.
Dos Santos is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bettin has good solid back control here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dos Santos trying to get back to his feet but Bettin is in full control for now.

Aiden Bettin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Tre Dos Santos's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Dos Santos counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dos Santos.
Dos Santos has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bettin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dos Santos tries to pull guard but Bettin holds him up against the cage and eventually Dos Santos drops back down to his feet.
Dos Santos lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Bettin or not.
Dos Santos has Bettin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bettin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tre Dos Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dos Santos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Dos Santos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Dos Santos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bettin advances to half guard.
Bettin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Bettin passes to side control.
Bettin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Despite being in the dominant position, Aiden Bettin just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bettin tries to clinch there but Dos Santos circles away.

Dos Santos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bettin's guard.

Bettin is trying to keep Dos Santos in close.
Bettin is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Bettin lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Dos Santos wants to control from the top but Bettin keeps moving.
Dos Santos trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bettin's guard.
Dos Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bettin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aiden Bettin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bettin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
