PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lobsta Mang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Jam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jam is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Transylvania. Bob Jam has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lobsta Mang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Jam!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jam tries to keep at a distance but Mang has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jam blocks an uppercut.
Mang misses with a punch to the body.
Mang drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jam gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mang works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Jam had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mang defends it easily.

Jam is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mang looking to pass the guard.
Mang cracks Jam with a solid left hand.
Mang postures up in Jam's guard and throws a big left but Jam blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jam is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Jam looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jam is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Jam has his foot on Mang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mang works his way back into a safe position though.
Mang lands a couple of digs.
Mang works over Jam with some ground and pound from guard.
Mang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jam is keeping the position for now.

Mang distracts Jam with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Mang trying to control the position from guard on top but Jam is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jam is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mang wanted to stand there but Jam had control of the position.
Mang is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Jam is trying to control the position but Mang postures up.
Mang content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mang got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mang has managed to get both his arms back between Jam's legs - danger averted.
Mang with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Mang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jam works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jam tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mang wants to control from the top but Jam keeps moving.
Mang slips nicely into half guard.
Mang takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mang lands a nice short elbow.
Mang lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jam manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mang wants to pass the guard but Jam is keeping the position.
Mang postures up in Jam's guard and throws a big left but Jam blocks it.
Mang is looking to work some ground and pound but Jam has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mang accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jam can't keep his opponent in guard - Mang advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jam gets back to full guard.
Mang scoring with punches to the head and body.
Mang wants to pass the guard but Jam is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mang missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Jam throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mang makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Jam utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mang stands up over Jam, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mang stops Jam from standing up.
Mang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mang misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mang lands a jab-cross combination.
Mang looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lobsta Mang will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mang's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Mang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mang lands in his opponent's guard.
Mang is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jam wriggles free and stands up.
Mang shoots for a takedown but Jam saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jam throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Mang dodges the punch combination from Jam.
Mang is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jam.

Jam gets caught flat footed, as Mang shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jam bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mang's guard.
Jam won't allow Mang to get back to his feet.
Jam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jam wants to stand but Mang is controlling his posture from full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jam sitting in guard here, content to control.
Jam wants to pass the guard but Mang is keeping the position.
Jam pushes down on Mang's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Jam is looking for a kimura but Mang is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jam to get the leverage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jam wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mang keeps working.
Mang looks like he's trying to stand up.
Jam is looking to take a break and control but Mang is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mang is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Jam wants to control but Mang is keeping him busy.

Jam is looking for a kimura but Mang is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jam to get the leverage.

Jam is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mang sees it coming and defends easily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mang stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mang wants to clinch up but Jam keeps it at a distance.

Mang rushes Jam and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mang has Jam pressed against the cage, preventing Jam from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mang with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Mang goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jam prevents it.
Mang stalling in the clinch.
Mang misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jam.
Mang wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lobsta Mang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
With the fighters up against the cage, Mang throws an elbow but misses.

Mang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mang shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jam defends it nicely.

Mang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mang is posturing up here but Jam has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Mang tries to roll out but it's too tight and Mang has to tap! Slick submission there by Jam!
