Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JohnAmund Skaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and shane carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skaar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Number of the Beast. shane carwin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
carwin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
carwin gets a takedown into half guard.
Skaar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of carwin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take carwin's back!
carwin manages to reverse the position and now he's in Skaar's guard. Nice work there by carwin.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skaar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in carwin's guard.

carwin wants to get back to his feet but Skaar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Skaar stands up over carwin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

carwin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Skaar is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for carwin.

Skaar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Skaar postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. carwin looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like shane carwin has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Skaar cracks carwin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
