And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Rider!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rider misses with a low kick.
Rider pivots, looking for a leg kick but Ellis is out of range and Rider settles back down.
Ellis just misses with a punch to the body.
Ellis with a jab.
Ellis lands a nice looking body shot.
Rider throws a chopping leg kick but Ellis manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Ellis gets caught flat footed, as Rider shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ellis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Rider is looking to work some ground and pound but Ellis has wrist control.
Ellis keeping moving, preventing Rider from controlling successfully.
Ellis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ellis avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rider throwing strikes from guard but Ellis blocks nicely.

Ellis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ellis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Ryan Rider seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellis checks a low kick from Rider.
Rider feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ellis's calf.
Ellis just misses with a punch to the body.
Rider lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ellis's corner calls for a 1-2. Ellis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rider shoots for a double leg takedown but Ellis sprawls well. He's pushed Rider's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ellis moves into range and connects with a jab.
Ellis leaves Rider with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rider finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Horrible takedown by Rider or perhaps it was just good defense by Ellis which made him look bad.
Anthony Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Rider.
Rider avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Rider shoots in but Ellis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ellis stuns Rider with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Rider uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ellis.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ellis checks a leg kick.
Rider looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Ellis throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rider on the side of the head.
Rider takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Rider has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ellis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ellis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Rider or not.
Ellis creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Rider with a big uppercut! Rider tries to clinch up but Ellis pushes him back against the cage and lands another moster strike that crumples Rider to the mat! Rider covers up and Ellis unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Anthony Ellis!
