The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomes comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
van der Vaart slips a jab from Gomes.
Gomes thows a left - swing and a miss!
van der Vaart throws a nice looking combination but Gomes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
van der Vaart steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gomes.
van der Vaart lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gomes waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract van der Vaart.
van der Vaart doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gomes ducks under a wild hook from van der Vaart.
Gomes throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gomes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
van der Vaart looks to land a right hand but Gomes moved out of range.
Gomes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but van der Vaart was well out of range. Poor timing from Gomes.
Gomes gets cracked with a nice right hand there by van der Vaart.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gomes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by van der Vaart.
Gomes throws a jab but it's blocked by van der Vaart.
van der Vaart ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
van der Vaart works the jab nicely.
van der Vaart lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Gomes can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from van der Vaart and Gomes drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by van der Vaart.
