Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, ronnie richards!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
richards shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed richards's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in richards's guard.
richards striking off his back but it's not causing Jackson any problems.
richards trying to keep a closed guard but Jackson is proving a slippery customer.

richards is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
richards is looking to stand up but Jackson isn't so interested in that idea.
Jackson won't allow richards to sweep him here.
Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
richards shoots and misses

and Jackson counters by clinching up.

Karl Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of ronnie richards.
richards looks gassed!

Jackson moves into the clinch.
richards tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jackson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jackson drags the fight down to the ground.
Jackson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
richards looking to sit in guard and control but Jackson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jackson wants to control from the top but richards keeps moving.

Jackson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jackson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Jackson feints and as richards raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jackson wants to control from the top but richards keeps moving.
Jackson is really struggling to control richards but he's trying to hold on to the position.

richards bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jackson throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
richards stands up out of Jackson's guard for a moment - Jackson manages to land a nice upkick.

Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. richards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. richards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. richards defends it easily.
richards is looking to stand up but Jackson won't let him.

Jackson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
richards wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
richards is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jackson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
richards in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Karl Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Karl Jackson just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in richards's guard.
Jackson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of richards's head.

Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so richards is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold.

Jackson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, richards has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jackson escapes and gets back to his feet.
ronnie richards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with richards.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jackson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Jackson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but richards regains guard immediately.
