Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pertti Apila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caden Akergaard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akergaard tries for a takedown but Apila sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Akergaard is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Akergaard works to advance to full mount. Apila defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Akergaard has control of Apila's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Apila regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Apila is controlling an arm, preventing Akergaard from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Akergaard wants to control the pace but Apila is squirming around nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Apila ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Akergaard moves away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Apila connects with a stiff jab that staggers Akergaard - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
