Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uljas Tossavainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson's entrance music is Slipknot. A fine choice. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Uljas Tossavainen!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tossavainen defending well as Johnson loads up on a big left hand.

Tossavainen has taken the fight to the clinch.

Johnson drags the fight down to the ground.
Tossavainen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tossavainen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tossavainen's back instead.
Tossavainen rolls, trying to escape but Johnson keeps control of the position.
Tossavainen trying to control the hands but Johnson breaks the grip.
Johnson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Tossavainen grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Even with his hooks in, Johnson manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Johnson has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Tossavainen.
Tossavainen covers up after that shot from Johnson.
Johnson gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

Johnson looking to break Tossavainen's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tossavainen remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Johnson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Tossavainen tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tossavainen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Tossavainen moves into full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tossavainen is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.

Tossavainen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Tossavainen looks gassed!
Tossavainen wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.

Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tossavainen is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.
Tossavainen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tossavainen prevents Johnson from improving his position.
Tossavainen is tying to control. Johnson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Tossavainen passes to full mount!
Tossavainen landing strikes from the mount and Johnson is in trouble!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Tossavainen looking to secure an arm triangle but Johnson defends it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Johnson is trying to escape the mount.
Tossavainen mounts Johnson! Really nice guard pass there!
Tossavainen trying to control but Johnson is having none of it.

Johnson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Tossavainen.

Tossavainen has hold of Johnson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Johnson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Tossavainen working for a submission but Johnson is keeping him at bay.
Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tossavainen postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.
Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Tossavainen's attempts to control the action.
Tossavainen lands a heavy elbow.

Tossavainen working for a submission but Johnson is keeping him at bay.
Johnson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Tossavainen has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Johnson is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Uljas Tossavainen!
