PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kamatudo Fodiati (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shiro Yamada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kamatudo Fodiati looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kamatudo Fodiati!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shiro Yamada!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamada works over Fodiati's head and body with a nice combination.
Fodiati scores with a jab to the body.
Yamada fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Some wild striking there from Yamada.

Fodiati changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yamada looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Yamada is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Fodiati's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Fodiati is trying to control the action in half guard but Yamada is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Yamada is doing well to control the position and prevent Fodiati from advancing to side control.
Yamada is pressing down on Fodiati's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Fodiati drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yamada looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yamada looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yamada!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Yamada's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fodiati is breathing heavily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fodiati is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Yamada has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Yamada changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fodiati looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fodiati looking for a sweep but Yamada has passed into full mount! Oh no!
The referee warns Fodiati that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Yamada takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Yamada lands a big shot there that rocks Fodiati but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

BOOM! Yamada connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Fodiati knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yamada on the ground.
Fodiati takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shiro Yamada dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Yamada fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fodiati, pushing him back against the cage.
Yamada is stalling here.
Yamada tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fodiati avoids it.
Yamada lands with a right to the head.

Fodiati breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Yamada bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Yamada decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Yamada throws a nice looking combination but Fodiati bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Yamada misses with the combination.
Yamada lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fodiati circles away quickly and effectively.
Yamada scores with a jab.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yamada scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Yamada tries to clinch but Fodiati is having none of it.
Yamada throws out a powerful jab.
Yamada wants to clinch up but Fodiati keeps it at a distance.

Yamada shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fodiati napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Yamada decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fodiati to his feet.
Yamada throws a series of punches but Fodiati avoids them all with ease.
Yamada moves into range and connects with a jab.
A right-left combo lands from Yamada.
Yamada misses with the combination.
Fodiati tries to clinch there but Yamada circles away.

Yamada scores with a hook to the body. Fodiati takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Fodiati with a poor takedown
and Yamada counters with a three punch combo that has Fodiati backing up. Fodiati nods at Yamada to acknowledge the strikes.
Fodiati on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Yamada throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yamada tries to clinch but Fodiati moves out of range.
Yamada looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Yamada scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Yamada misses with a two punch combination.
Yamada lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Fodiati at a distance.
Fodiati blocks a head kick by Yamada.

Fodiati gets caught flat footed, as Yamada shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Fodiati looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Yamada puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Yamada decides to return to a standing position.
Danga de danga de dang - Yamada scores with a four punch combination!

Yamada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Sloppy strikes there by Yamada.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shiro Yamada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Fodiati takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Yamada lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Yamada works over Fodiati's head and body with a nice combination.
Yamada scores with a jab to the jaw.
Fodiati gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Yamada counter with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamada moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Yamada has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fodiati is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Yamada yanks on the arm and Fodiati is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Yamada.
