PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and craig roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
roberts throws a body kick that misses.

It looks like Bryan Hawk has been cut.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

roberts tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hawk paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bryan Hawk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
roberts paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
No joy there for roberts, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hawk throws a right and a left that both miss.
roberts tries to clinch but Hawk is having none of it.
Hawk stuffs the takedown.

and Hawk makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. roberts really felt that one!

That was a close second round but I would say that Bryan Hawk will probably get the nod.

roberts is looking to clinch but Hawk is avoiding it.
roberts throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hawk's waist but Hawk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing roberts off to one side.

and Hawk counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Hawk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Hawk finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

roberts goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Hawk has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

roberts has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hawk.

and Hawk counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. roberts is lucky that one didn't land flush.
craig roberts seems to be getting the better of the standup.
roberts shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hawk as he avoids it easily.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bryan Hawk.
I think Hawk has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
