Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Conner Mcmannus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irvin Makinano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Conner Mcmannus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Irvin Makinano!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Makinano.

Mcmannus gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Makinano to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Makinano wants to pass the guard but Mcmannus is keeping the position.
Mcmannus is looking to stand up but Makinano isn't so interested in that idea.
Makinano advances position into side control!
Mcmannus is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcmannus prevents Makinano from improving position.
Makinano is looking to take a break and control but Mcmannus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mcmannus tries to escape but Makinano is in control.
Makinano wants to stand but Mcmannus is controlling his arm.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Makinano fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Makinano shoots in for a takedown but Mcmannus shows good takedown defense.
Conner Mcmannus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Irvin Makinano.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Makinano tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mcmannus swivels and escapes.

Mcmannus fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Makinano, pushing him back against the cage.
Makinano wants a takedown but no success here.
Makinano looks gassed!
Makinano drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mcmannus is stalling here.
Makinano has had enough of the clinch but Mcmannus keeps him there for the moment.
Makinano is trying to drag Mcmannus to the mat but Mcmannus just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Makinano is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mcmannus breaks the clinch.
Mcmannus throws a head kick but Makinano moves out of range.
Mcmannus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mcmannus goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Makinano shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mcmannus napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Mcmannus is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Makinano has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Makinano has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Mcmannus!

Mcmannus is squirming around, avoiding Makinano's attempts to control the action.
Mcmannus tries to buck Makinano off but he can't manage it.
Makinano wants to control the pace but Mcmannus is squirming around nicely.
Mcmannus is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Makinano is looking to stand but Makinano has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Conner Mcmannus will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Makinano tries to clinch but Mcmannus moves away
and Mcmannus counters with a head kick.
Makinano tries for a takedown but Mcmannus circles away easily

and Mcmannus holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Makinano looking to stall.
Makinano can't get the takedown.

Mcmannus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Mcmannus counters with a solid body kick.
Conner Mcmannus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Irvin Makinano.

Mcmannus looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Makinano tries to kick Mcmannus off but Mcmannus keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mcmannus throwing shots but Makinano is blocking nicely.
Makinano is trying to stand back up but Mcmannus is controlling him
Mcmannus seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Makinano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Makinano shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mcmannus holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Makinano misses with a hook to the ribs.
Mcmannus is trying to break the clinch but Makinano is controlling him.
Makinano wants a takedown.

Mcmannus breaks the clinch.
Makinano with a poor takedown
and Mcmannus counters with a one-two to the body.
Makinano doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mcmannus counters with a head kick. That will keep Makinano thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Makinano fails with the takedown

and Mcmannus counters with a shoot takedown. Makinano fights it but they end up in guard.
Makinano is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcmannus is controlling him.
Mcmannus landing with the ground and pound.
Mcmannus lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Makinano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mcmannus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcmannus throwing strikes but missing.
Mcmannus with a flurry of punches that miss.
Mcmannus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Makinano works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mcmannus is defended easily by Makinano.
Makinano tries for a takedown but Mcmannus circles away easily
and Mcmannus counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Makinano is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Makinano doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Mcmannus counters with a takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Conner Mcmannus dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Mcmannus counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Mcmannus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Makinano's waist but Makinano gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcmannus off to one side.

and Mcmannus moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Makinano is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mcmannus pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mcmannus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Makinano doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mcmannus counters with a body kick that stops Makinano in his tracks momentarily.
Conner Mcmannus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Makinano shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mcmannus counters with a takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mcmannus misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Mcmannus postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Conner Mcmannus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mcmannus creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Makinano sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Mcmannus working the strikes but Makinano uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Makinano keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mcmannus thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Nice strikes from Mcmannus there.
Mcmannus not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mcmannus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Makinano fails with the takedown

so Mcmannus counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mcmannus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Makinano pushes Mcmannus off and gets back to his feet.
Mcmannus throws a sloppy head kick and Makinano moves out of range easily.

Makinano scores a takedown into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcmannus is controlling an arm, preventing Makinano from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Makinano controlling the position easily from mount.
Makinano looking to control but Mcmannus is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Conner Mcmannus showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mcmannus has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
