PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Slider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brenden Tully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tully has chosen Open Your Eyes as his entrance music. Brenden Tully told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Slider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brenden Tully !
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slider lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Tully fails to land with a series of punches.

Slider clinches.

Slider pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Slider looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Slider's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Slider duly obliges.
Tully avoids a punch combination nicely.
Slider really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tully darts in trying to clinch
and Slider counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Slider swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Tully counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tully passes into half guard.
Tully tries to pass to full mount but Slider defends it.

Tully works his foot free and advances to mount.
Tully fails to take his opponent's back.

Tully has control of Slider's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Slider regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Tully swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Slider is now in Tully 's guard. A big mistake from Tully there, giving up the dominant position!
Slider wanted to stand there but Tully had control of the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tully is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Slider defends well.
Tully looks gassed!
Tully can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Slider controls the pace.
Slider keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tully 's head.
Slider is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Slider stands and steps away. Tully gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Slider, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
