PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between God Zilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soto Makikomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, God Zilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Soto Makikomi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zilla lands a with a good body shot.

Makikomi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Makikomi wants to stand up but Zilla is controlling the position.
Zilla strikes from the bottom but Makikomi uses the opportunity to move to side control.
Zilla is pushing Makikomi's head away, looking to escape. Makikomi manages to hold on to the position though.

Makikomi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zilla is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Makikomi looks gassed!
Zilla is looking to regain half guard here but Makikomi keeps moving and retains side control.
Zilla pushes Makikomi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Makikomi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Makikomi in side control, throwing shots but Zilla defends.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zilla wants to control but Makikomi postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Zilla is looking to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Makikomi throws a sloppy head kick and Zilla moves out of range easily.
Zilla moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Soto Makikomi has been cut.
Zilla fails with the takedown.
Zilla works Makikomi's body with a nice hook.
Zilla shoots and misses
and Makikomi counters with a good, hard body kick but Zilla shrugs it off.

Zilla clinches with his opponent.
Makikomi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Zilla gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Zilla wants the takedown. Makikomi is fighting it off but Zilla persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Makikomi's guard against the cage.
Makikomi pulls Zilla in close to his closed guard and prevents Zilla from doing any damage or advancing position.

Makikomi scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Makikomi drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zilla takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Makikomi scores with a couple of short elbows.

Makikomi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Zilla to his feet.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Makikomi, right into the meat.
Makikomi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Makikomi cracks a nice hook into Zilla's ribs.
Makikomi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Makikomi moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Whack! Zilla lands a heavy head kick that drops Makikomi. The ref tackles Zilla to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Makikomi was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). God Zilla!
