PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shooter McGavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and floriel turla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGavin comes to the cage accompanied by I Get Mad . We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGavin shoots in looking for a takedown. turla tries to sprawl out of it but McGavin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. turla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McGavin connects with a high kick.
turla is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

turla drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McGavin tries to buck turla off but turla is having none of it.
McGavin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
turla perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
McGavin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. turla is working away from the top position though.
turla prevents McGavin from improving his position.

McGavin slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
turla trying to stand up but can't free himself from McGavin's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

turla shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McGavin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
McGavin wants to sweep but no luck.
turla postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
turla is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

turla has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGavin is proving hard to escape from.
turla throws a strike but McGavin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

McGavin wants to pass the guard but turla is keeping the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

McGavin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGavin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

McGavin get's back to his feet.
turla tries for a takedown but McGavin circles away easily
and McGavin counters with a thumping low kick.

McGavin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and turla counters with a shoot takedown. McGavin fights it but they end up in guard.
McGavin is pulling down on turla's head. It's preventing any offense from turla, at least for the moment.
McGavin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
turla wants to stand and escape but instead McGavin has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

turla is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McGavin wants to pass to mount but turla is defending the position.

McGavin is taking a breather. turla says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
McGavin wants to stand up but turla is controlling the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
turla is not content to let McGavin control the position.

McGavin stands up out of the half guard.
McGavin tries to clinch up.
turla avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
turla shoots in but McGavin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McGavin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but turla swivels and escapes.
McGavin throws a series of punches but turla moves out of range.
McGavin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and turla counters with a nice double leg into side control. McGavin won't be happy with that.

turla is thwarting McGavin's attempts to control the position.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
McGavin unloads a knee to the mid-section.
McGavin stalling the fight.
McGavin lands a good knee to the midsection. turla won't want to take too many of those.
McGavin lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
McGavin crunches a lovely knee into turla's ribcage.
McGavin is struggling to control the position.
McGavin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. turla fights it off and pushes away nicely.

floriel turla showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

McGavin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has turla pinned against the cage. turla gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

McGavin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McGavin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. turla smiles and moves away.
turla throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

turla shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
turla takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
turla blocks the strikes from McGavin.

McGavin is staying active underneath turla, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

McGavin wants to control but turla is keeping busy and won't allow it.
McGavin is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
