Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Amire Tyree!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fedor Arlovski!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyree misses with a series of wild punches.
A swing and a miss from Arlovski.

Tyree feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Arlovski has his hands on Tyree's head, controlling the position.
Tyree wants to control from the top but Arlovski keeps moving.
Tyree postures up in Arlovski's guard and throws a big left but Arlovski blocks it.
Arlovski is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Arlovski wants to get back to his feet but Tyree is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Arlovski controls Tyree momentarily but Tyree frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Arlovski throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Tyree counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Tyree has had enough of the clinch but Arlovski keeps him there for the moment.
Arlovski tries to stall but Tyree uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Tyree goes for a takedown attempt but Arlovski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Arlovski throws a solid leg kick but Tyree takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Arlovski.

Arlovski instigates a clinch.
Tyree wants a takedown.
Arlovski has Tyree pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tyree manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Tyree fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Amire Tyree. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Arlovski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Arlovski feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Tyree's calf.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Arlovski is looking to clinch.
Arlovski slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Tyree blocks a head kick by Arlovski.
Arlovski looks to land a left hand but Tyree moved out of range nicely.
No joy there for Tyree, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Arlovski uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Tyree has time to react.

Arlovski misses with a two punch combination.

Arlovski rushes Tyree and presses him up against the cage.

Arlovski has hold of one of Tyree's legs. Tyree is fighting the takedown attempt but Arlovski gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Tyree could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Arlovski tries to free his leg and advance position but Tyree is retaining full guard.
Arlovski wants to control from the top but Tyree keeps moving.

Let's hope that Arlovski has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Tyree wants to stand and escape but Arlovski is having none of it.

Arlovski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Arlovski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tyree can't keep his opponent in guard - Arlovski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Arlovski tries for a kimura but Tyree is defending well.
Tyree is pushing Arlovski's head away, looking to escape. Arlovski manages to hold on to the position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Arlovski tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Arlovski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tyree moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Tyree steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Arlovski.

and Tyree counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Arlovski!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Tyree winds up and cracks Arlovski with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Arlovski is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tyree scores with a couple of nice shots.

Tyree tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The referee warns Tyree that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Arlovski wants to control the pace but Tyree is squirming around nicely.
Arlovski won't let Tyree get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Fedor Arlovski has got the better of the ground game so far.

Arlovski has hold of Tyree's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tyree manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Arlovski is landing with some decent strikes but Tyree is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Tyree tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Arlovski paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Well Arlovski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
