PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Beaver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Dahh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beaver kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Sound of Silence. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Beaver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Dahh!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Beaver scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like David Dahh has been cut.
A combination from Beaver does no damage.

Beaver feints and as Dahh raises his hands in defense, Beaver changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Beaver wants to stand but Dahh has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dahh keeping moving, preventing Beaver from controlling successfully.

Dahh has his foot on Beaver's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beaver works his way back into a safe position though.
Dahh not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Beaver wants to control from the top but Dahh keeps moving.
Dahh looking for a sweep. Not yet Dahh, not yet.
Dahh can't keep his opponent in guard - Beaver advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dahh holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Dahh is looking to get back to is feet but Beaver passes into side control.
Beaver trying to control the position but Dahh is working away.

Beaver tries for a kimura but Dahh is defending well.
Dahh is looking for a sweep.

Dahh can't do much from the bottom here.

Dahh is not content to let Beaver control the position.

Dahh wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Beaver changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dahh tries to avoid it but Beaver manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dahh to the ground. Dahh escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Beaver gets the takedown into side control.
Dahh is looking to reverse the position.
Dahh is looking to get back to his feet here but Beaver is keeping cool and he's managed to take Dahh's back.
Beaver landing with strikes.
Dahh trying to control the hands but Beaver breaks the grip.
Beaver really is a fat lump.
Dahh breaks Beaver's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Dahh controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Dahh passes Beaver's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dahh looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dahh lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Dahh passes to full mount!
Dahh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Dahh's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dahh cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Beaver has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Dahh has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Beaver! Can he survive? No! He's out! Dahh gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Dahh!
