Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Asmir Zslevski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chiquito Fairtex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Asmir Zslevski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Asmir Zslevski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chiquito Fairtex!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fairtex throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Zslevski.


It looks like Asmir Zslevski has been cut.
Fairtex misses with a head kick.
Zslevski shoots in for a takedown but Fairtex shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Zslevski misses with a head kick.
Fairtex moves forwards but Zslevski connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Fairtex closes the distance and clinches up with Zslevski, looking for a takedown. Fairtex pushes Zslevski against the cage but Zslevski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Zslevski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Zslevski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fairtex's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Zslevski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fairtex keeps working.
Fairtex wants to control but Zslevski is keeping busy.

Zslevski seems to be working for a kimura but Fairtex defends the submission attempt.

Zslevski has gone for a leg lock! Fairtex slips out almost immediately though and dives into Zslevski's guard.
Fairtex wants to control from the top but Zslevski keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fairtex throws a big right hand that misses.
Zslevski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fairtex wants to get up but he can't break Zslevski's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Zslevski keeping moving, preventing Fairtex from controlling successfully.
Zslevski seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Fairtex is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fairtex seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zslevski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zslevski slips a jab from Fairtex.
Fairtex misses with a head kick.
Zslevski throws the left hand but Fairtex avoids the punch easily.
Fairtex pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fairtex looks to land a combination but Zslevski avoids it well.

Zslevski fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fairtex sprawls well initially but Zslevski persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Zslevski wants to work for an arm triangle but Fairtex is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Zslevski looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Asmir Zslevski will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fairtex tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fairtex.

and Zslevski decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fairtex's guard.
Zslevski postures up in Fairtex's guard and throws a big left but Fairtex blocks it.
Zslevski wants to control from the top but Fairtex keeps moving.

Zslevski slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fairtex is not content to let Zslevski control the position.
Zslevski passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Fairtex!

Zslevski is working for a guillotine from mount but Fairtex frees his head quite easily.
Fairtex is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Zslevski goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Fairtex is on top in guard.

Zslevski is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Fairtex decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fairtex throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Zslevski lands with a hook. Fairtex tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Fairtex tries to score a power double leg takedown but Zslevski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fairtex somewhat.
Zslevski takes a head kick and keeps coming.

and Fairtex counters with a head kick. That will keep Zslevski thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Asmir Zslevski will probably get the nod.

Fairtex is trying to escape the mount but Zslevski keeps good control and instead manages to take Fairtex's back.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Zslevski's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Fairtex's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Zslevski's hands.

Fairtex is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Zslevski gets his way!
