PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Russel Paulman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cris Dorh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is fight music . Dorh has chosen Heaven & Hell as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Russel Paulman !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cris Dorh!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dorh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dorh showed some decent athleticism there.
Paulman tries to roll over but Dorh keeps him under control.

Dorh decides to return to a standing position.
Dorh looks to land a combination but Paulman avoids it well.
Russel Paulman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dorh slips under a jab.
Paulman tries to clinch up.
Paulman throws a right and a left that Dorh avoids nicely.
Dorh keeps the fight on the outside.

Dorh clinches.
Paulman lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dorh backwards.
Dorh has Paulman pressed against the cage, preventing Paulman from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Dorh tries to break the clinch but Paulman is controlling the position.

Paulman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Paulman clinches but Dorh breaks the clinch
and Dorh counters with a three punch combo that has Paulman backing up. Paulman nods at Dorh to acknowledge the strikes.

Dorh gets the takedown into side control.
Paulman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dorh wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Dorh tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dorh tries for a kimura but Paulman is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paulman is looking for a sweep.

Dorh working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Dorh tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dorh has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dorh in side control, throwing shots but Paulman defends.
Paulman tries to buck Dorh off but Dorh is having none of it.

Dorh wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Paulman , who protects the arm well.

Dorh thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Paulman is trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dorh tries for a kimura but Paulman is defending well.
Paulman manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dorh's best efforts.

Dorh is working for a kimura but Paulman is defending it quite comfortably.
Dorh looks gassed!
Paulman moves into full guard.

Paulman has his foot on Dorh's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dorh works his way back into a safe position though.

Dorh thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dorh stands and throws Paulman 's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Paulman is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dorh's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Paulman tries to get to full guard but Dorh has control of the leg.

Dorh is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Paulman sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Paulman taking some punishment here, with Dorh in his half guard.

Dorh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dorh wants to work for an arm triangle but Paulman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Paulman is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Dorh is tapping! Great win for Paulman !
