The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruutu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Ruutu stands up out of Bee's guard for a moment - Bee manages to land a nice upkick.
Ruutu slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Ruutu tries to score with some ground and pound. Bee controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ruutu shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bee is trying to defend but Ruutu finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ruutu is looking for a kimura but Bee is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ruutu to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bee sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Bee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruutu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ruutu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bee holds on and takes a little breather.
Bruce Bee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jarkko Ruutu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jarkko Ruutu.
