The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy looks to land a combination but JAMES avoids it well.

Murphy moves into the clinch successfully.

Murphy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Murphy tries to bum rush JAMES with a series of wild strikes but JAMES uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Murphy just misses with a punch to the body.
JAMES misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
JAMES tries for a takedown but Murphy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
JAMES avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

JAMES closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

JAMES wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Murphy, who protects the arm well.
Murphy is trying to buck JAMES off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

JAMES thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

JAMES throws some wild stikes that Murphy manages to avoid easily.
