Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Valio Hristov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Valio Hristov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Watson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hristov misses with a series of wild punches.
Watson moves in looking to clinch but Hristov pushes him off.
Watson cracks Hristov with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Hristov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hristov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Watson.
Watson slips a jab and a cross from Hristov.
Some wild striking there from Hristov.
Nice cross by Hristov.
Watson throws a series of punches but Hristov moves out of range.
A slow jab from Watson misses its intended target.
Hristov thuds his right hand into Watson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Watson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

It looks like Valio Hristov has been cut.
Hristov wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Watson has him pressed against the cage.

Watson breaks the clinch.
Hristov misses with a combination

and Watson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Watson lands a couple of digs.
Watson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hristov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Watson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Watson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hristov doesn't seem bothered though.

and Watson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Watson lands a big uppercut and Hristov crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Hristov looks OK. Watson waves Hristov back to his feet!

Watson scores with a jab to the body.
Oh Hristov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hristov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Watson circles away quickly and effectively.
Hristov is breathing heavily.
Watson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Hristov seems to have got his legs back now.
Watson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hristov takes one to the side of the head.
Watson slips a jab and a cross from Hristov.

Watson clinches up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Watson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Watson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Watson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hristov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Watson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hristov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Hristov is letting Watson control him for a moment.

Watson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hristov is trying to control Watson's posture but Watson avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Watson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Watson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Valio Hristov's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Watson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hristov was well out of range. Poor timing from Watson.

Tom Watson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Watson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hristov moves away.

and Watson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hristov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Watson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Hristov blocks a head kick by Watson.
Watson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Watson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hristov.
Hristov swings for the body but Watson moves out of range.
Watson cracks Hristov with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Hristov tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Watson pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Hristov is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Watson!
