Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between RJ Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Torvald Gunnarsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, RJ Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Torvald Gunnarsson!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunnarsson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Stone is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gunnarsson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Stone wants to get back to his feet but Gunnarsson drags him back down.
You can see the frustration on Stone's face as Gunnarsson controls the position.

and Gunnarsson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Stone's knee momentarily.

Stone is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gunnarsson's half guard.
Stone wants to get back to his feet.

Gunnarsson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stone's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stone's back!
Stone is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Gunnarsson tries to get the hooks in deep but Stone pushed the leg off.

Stone is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Gunnarsson off. It looks like it's working - Gunnarsson slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Stone displaying calm under pressure there.

Gunnarsson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stone manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Stone is looking to stand up but Gunnarsson isn't so interested in that idea.
Gunnarsson wants to stand but Stone has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gunnarsson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

and Stone counters by moving into the clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Stone.
Stone presses Gunnarsson against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Stone tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Stone misses with a knee strike.
Stone goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Stone obliges.
Stone throws a knee to the head but misses.
Gunnarsson lands a good knee to the midsection. Stone won't want to take too many of those.

Stone tries a knee to the head but Gunnarsson blocks it.

Gunnarsson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gunnarsson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gunnarsson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

and Gunnarsson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stone's guard.
Stone is looking to stand back up but Gunnarsson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Stone.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stone will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Gunnarsson up against the cage.

Stone with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Stone is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Stone's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Stone misses with a wild combination.
Stone darts in trying to clinch
and Gunnarsson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Stone doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gunnarsson counters with an outside leg kick.
Gunnarsson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gunnarsson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stone avoids it really well and circles away.
Stone tries to clinch up but Gunnarsson circles away and keeps his distance.

and Gunnarsson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for RJ Stone. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gunnarsson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Torvald Gunnarsson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Stone fails to land with a series of punches.
RJ Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stone leaves Gunnarsson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gunnarsson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Gunnarsson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stone's guard.

Gunnarsson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Stone pushes Gunnarsson off looking to stand but Gunnarsson dives back in and keeps control.
Gunnarsson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Stone wants to get back to his feet.
Gunnarsson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stone does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Torvald Gunnarsson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stone shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gunnarsson but Gunnarsson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Gunnarsson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Gunnarsson is looking to clinch but Stone is avoiding it.
Gunnarsson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stone swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Gunnarsson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Stone is trying to get back to his feet but Gunnarsson has full control of the position and if anything, Stone has just worked his way into a worse spot.
RJ Stone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
