The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. PauNeles was covering up waiting for the punch and Lion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
PauNeles is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lion pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. PauNeles is keeping the position for now.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as PauNeles holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

PauNeles feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lion postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

PauNeles bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

PauNeles wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lion keeps working.

Lion looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for PauNeles!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

PauNeles closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lion tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but PauNeles wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

PauNeles is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Lion defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

and PauNeles counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

PauNeles is really struggling to control Lion but he's trying to hold on to the position.
PauNeles sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lion's guard.
