PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Querido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Flash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pedro Querido!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flash moves in looking to clinch but Querido pushes him off.
Flash tries to close the distance and clinch but Querido swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Flash lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Querido circles away quickly and effectively.

Flash rushes Querido and presses him up against the ropes.
Flash tries to pull guard but Querido holds him up against the ropes and eventually Flash drops back down to his feet.

Querido wants the takedown. Flash is fighting it off but Querido persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Flash's guard against the ropes.
Querido wants to control from the top but Flash keeps moving.
Querido wants to stand but Flash is controlling his posture from full guard.
Flash looking to hit a scissor sweep but Querido is one step ahead there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Querido stands up and waves to Flash to follow him.

Querido has Flash up against the ropes in a clinch.
Flash fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Querido has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Flash avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Flash tries to pull guard but Querido won't allow it.

Flash gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Querido.

Querido jumps guard and drags Flash to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Querido might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Flash kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Flash is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Flash thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Querido is trying to control the position but Flash postures up.

Flash got a little sloppy there for a moment and Querido has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Flash has managed to get both his arms back between Querido's legs - danger averted.
Flash tries to free his leg and advance position but Querido is retaining full guard.
Querido throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Querido fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Flash moves into range and clinches up with Querido.
Flash lands a body shot in the clinch.

Querido ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Querido no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Flash wants to control from the top but Querido keeps moving.

Flash closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Querido did well to prevent Flash getting side control.

and Querido decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Flash's guard.

Querido stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flash swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Querido shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Flash can't escape the position.
Flash wants to control but Querido is having none of it.
Querido trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Flash wants to hold on but Querido pushes him away.

Querido looking to control but Flash is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Querido controlling the pace for now.
Flash is trying to escape the mount.
Querido wants to stand but Flash is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Querido is looking to stand but Querido has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Querido is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Flash has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Flash!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Flash is working Querido over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

and Querido counters with a shoot takedown. Flash fights it but they end up in guard.
Flash is pulling down on Querido's head. It's preventing any offense from Querido, at least for the moment.

Querido stands and steps away. Flash gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Pedro Querido showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Flash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Querido tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Flash swivels and escapes.

Flash fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Querido sprawls well initially but Flash persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Querido has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Flash is working away from the top position though.

Flash seems to be working for a kimura but Querido defends the submission attempt.

Flash is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Querido sees it coming and defends easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Querido wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Flash shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Querido napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Well Querido has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
