Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connell Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hayes is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Calm Like a Bomb. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Hayes closes the distance and clinches.
Hayes tries to score a body lock takedown but McCoy shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

McCoy jumps guard and drags Hayes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

McCoy looking for a guillotine here but Hayes defends easily.
Hayes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hayes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McCoy is on top in guard.

McCoy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hayes, up you get!

Hayes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

McCoy tries to roll over but Hayes keeps him under control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McCoy scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Hayes shoots for a double leg takedown but McCoy sprawls well. He's pushed Hayes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hayes stays in close to McCoy's body and controls the position.
McCoy controls Hayes momentarily but Hayes frees himself.

McCoy has his foot on Hayes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hayes works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

McCoy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCoy with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hayes lands a couple of shots from the bottom.
McCoy tries to free his leg and advance position but Hayes is retaining full guard.
McCoy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
McCoy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
McCoy postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hayes keeping moving, preventing McCoy from controlling successfully.
Hayes looking to hit a scissor sweep but McCoy is one step ahead there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McCoy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Horrible takedown by Hayes or perhaps it was just good defense by McCoy which made him look bad.
Harry McCoy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Connell Hayes.
Hayes shoots for a takedown but McCoy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
McCoy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hayes.

McCoy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

McCoy is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hayes is surviving well by controlling McCoy's body position as best he can.
McCoy wants to take his opponent's back but Hayes doesn't allow it.
McCoy looking to control but Hayes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McCoy has hold of Hayes's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hayes manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harry McCoy dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

McCoy throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Hayes is rocked!
McCoy throws a series of punches but Hayes avoids them all with ease.
Hayes is still on wobbly legs! Can McCoy finish him?
A head kick lands from McCoy that sends Hayes to the canvas. Hayes tries to scramble back to his feet but McCoy brings him back down into side control.
McCoy in side control lands a decent elbow.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

McCoy decides to stand back up. McCoy steps back and let's Hayes get back to his feet.

McCoy lands a huge takedown. Hayes is out but the ref is slow to react and McCoy lands 3 more undefended punches before the fight is stopped. Brutal finish. Hayes lies on the canvas for a good minute before the doctors bring him round. Good to see he's OK.
