Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liam Machin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Liam Machin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Walker!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Walker thows a left - swing and a miss!
Machin slips under a jab.
Machin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Walker but Walker pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Walker swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Walker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Machin.
A head kick misses from Machin.
Machin tries to clinch there but Walker circles away.
Machin shoots in for a takedown but Walker shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Liam Machin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Machin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Walker punching from the bottom.
Walker moves into full guard.
Machin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Walker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Machin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Machin has managed to get both his arms back between Walker's legs - danger averted.

Machin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Machin distracts Walker with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Machin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Walker dives on top into guard.
Machin tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Walker passes Machin's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Walker wants to stand up but Machin is controlling the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Machin is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Machin wants to improve his position but Walker is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walker lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Machin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Walker napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Machin slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Walker.

Walker is squirming around, avoiding Machin's attempts to control the action.

Machin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Walker has worked his arm free - good work by Walker!

Machin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Machin goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Walker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Machin's guard! Nice work there by Walker!

Walker stands up and waves to Machin to follow him.
Machin blocks a jab.
Machin slips a jab from Walker.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Walker will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Machin wants to clinch.
Jake Walker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Machin lands a nice shot that snaps Walker's head back.
Machin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Walker to score with a decent uppercut.

Walker drops Machin with a beautiful combination! Machin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Walker is looking for the KO!

It looks like Liam Machin has been cut.
Machin tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range.
Oh Machin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Walker misses with a straight left.
Walker throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Machin seems to have got his legs back now.

Machin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walker manages to work his way to half guard, despite Machin's best efforts.

Machin moves into full mount! Walker won't be happy about that!

Machin is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Walker has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Walker sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Machin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walker does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Walker throws a nice looking combination but Machin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Machin is landing with some decent strikes but Walker is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Walker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Machin trying to control but Walker is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Machin lands a big shot there that rocks Walker but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Machin has control of Walker's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Walker regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Walker's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Walker wants to hold on but Machin pushes him away.
Machin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Walker is in a horrible position here. Machin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Machin has hold of Walker's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Walker manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Machin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Walker's face.
