PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Blade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastian Monsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blade comes to the cage accompanied by For Whom the Bell Tolls. Monsson has chosen Tenacious D - Master Exploder as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sebastian Monsson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blade throws and low kick but Monsson moves out of range easily.
Monsson cracks Blade with a right hand to the side of the head.
Bobby Blade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monsson connects with a single shot there.
Blade lands with an uppercut that bounces Monsson off the cage and back into rage.
Monsson dives in and grabs Blade's left leg, looking for a takedown. Blade pushes down on Monsson's head and hops out.
Blade feints and then cracks Monsson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Monsson down.
Monsson shoots in for a takedown but Blade shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Blade clinches up with Monsson and pushes him back against the cage.
Monsson is trying to force a seperation but Blade has the dominant position.

Monsson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

No joy there for Blade, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Monsson lands a lovely overhand right.
Blade throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Blade tries to close the distance and clinch but Monsson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

An inside leg kick lands from Blade.
Blade chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Blade rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Monsson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Blade tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Monsson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Blade was covering up waiting for the punch and Monsson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Blade is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Monsson is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blade seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Blade avoids the body shot from Monsson.
Blade fails to land with a series of punches.
Monsson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Blade backs up against the cage.
Blade ducks under a wild hook from Monsson.
Blade lands an overhand right.
Blade uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Monsson.
Monsson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Blade sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Blade misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Blade gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Blade wriggles free and stands up.

Monsson throws a lazy right hand but Blade sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Monsson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Blade fails to land with a series of punches.
Blade tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Monsson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Monsson swings for the body but Blade moves out of range.
Blade misses with a double jab
and Monsson counters with a straight right hand.
Monsson has a takedown stuffed.
Bobby Blade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sebastian Monsson.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Monsson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Blade lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bobby Blade will probably get the nod.

Monsson seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Blade's chin but Blade turns very nicely into Monsson's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Blade.
