Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelinho Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dani Favio!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Garcia lands in his opponent's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Garcia throws a solid leg kick but Favio takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Garcia.

Favio is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Garcia is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Garcia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Favio can do anything to dispel that myth.
Garcia wants to control the pace but Favio is squirming around nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Garcia is working for a guillotine from mount but Favio frees his head quite easily.
Garcia controlling the pace for now.

Garcia is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Favio is surviving well by controlling Garcia's body position as best he can.

Dani Favio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
