The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maria misses with a kick to the body.
Haze fails with the takedown.
Haze shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Maria as he jumps to the side.
Maria misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Maria throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Haze's head.
Maria blocks a head kick by Haze.
Maria looks to land a right hand but Haze moved out of range.
Maria throws a leg kick which misses Haze's front leg but catches the back leg as Haze tries to avoid it.
Haze tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Haze fails with an attempt to clinch.
Haze shoots in for a double leg but Maria sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silver Haze. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Maria loads up on a big right hand but Haze slips the punch.

Haze fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maria avoids it really well and circles away.
Maria pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Haze stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Maria.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Maria.
Haze is breathing heavily.
Maria throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Haze.
Haze stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Maria.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maria connects with a high kick.
Maria scores with a kick to the midsection.
Maria buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Maria thows a body kick. Haze tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Maria tries a head kick but it misses.

Maria looks to land a combination but Haze avoids it well.
Joaquim Maria is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maria moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Haze. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Maria! Haze is out on his feet! Maria rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Haze is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Haze is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
