Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Owen Schmitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Keenan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Schmitt might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In God We Trust - Stryper. Owen Schmitt is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Schmitt!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Patrick Keenan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmitt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Keenan tries to avoid it but Schmitt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Keenan to the ground. Keenan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Schmitt misses with a double jab.

Schmitt closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Keenan to the mat! Keenan manages to get full guard.

Schmitt drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Keenan dives on top into guard.

Schmitt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Schmitt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Keenan is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Schmitt has his foot on Keenan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Keenan works his way back into a safe position though.
Schmitt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Keenan manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Schmitt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Schmitt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Schmitt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Keenan was covering up waiting for the punch and Schmitt finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Schmitt wants to control from the top but Keenan keeps moving.

Schmitt swings wildly with an uppercut but Keenan uses good head movement to avoid it.

Schmitt lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Schmitt has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Keenan is trying to keep an underhook but Schmitt manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Schmitt wants to control but Keenan is keeping him busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Keenan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Schmitt is working away from the top position though.

Schmitt is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Keenan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Schmitt.
Schmitt seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Keenan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Keenan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Schmitt counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Schmitt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Keenan is not content to let Schmitt control the position.

Schmitt jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Keenan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Keenan and Schmitt has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Schmitt passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Keenan!
Schmitt is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Keenan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Schmitt is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Keenan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Keenan shrugs it off.

Well Schmitt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
