Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shinja Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jussi Kyronviita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jussi Kyronviita told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Aoki is defended easily by Kyronviita.
Kyronviita doesn't manage to clinch there - Aoki circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Aoki.
Aoki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kyronviita moves in looking to clinch but Aoki pushes him off.
Kyronviita ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aoki moves away.

Kyronviita closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kyronviita lands in his opponent's guard.
Kyronviita passes Aoki's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Aoki's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Kyronviita is looking to take a break and control but Aoki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kyronviita is taking a breather. Aoki says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Aoki gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kyronviita.

Aoki is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kyronviita is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Aoki to the mat. Aoki regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
