PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Raphael Thates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thates tries to avoid it but Pan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thates to the ground. Thates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Pan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thates as he jumps to the side.

Raphael Thates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Pan.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pan showed some decent athleticism there.

Pan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thates is looking for a triangle but Pan pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Thates is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A close round but Peter Pan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Thates takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Thates tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Pan wants to control but Thates is having none of it.

Thates is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Pan is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Pan flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Thates anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Pan and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Thates slips an arm under Pan chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Thates has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Thates is squeezing on Pan like an anaconda would it's prey. Pan fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
