PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Asterix Njord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slippery Sam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Njord kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Everything Will Be Alright. Slippery Sam will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sam ducks under a wild hook from Njord.
Njord shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sam but Sam pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Njord changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sam tries to avoid it but Njord manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sam to the ground. Sam escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sam takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Njord moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Sam uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Njord has time to react.

Njord is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sam is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Njord tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sam wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Njord might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Njord is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sam defends well.
Sam not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
