The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karaev leaves Shishkin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Shishkin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Shishkin in side control lands a decent elbow.
Shishkin wants to control for a moment but Karaev uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Karaev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Shishkin.
Shishkin wants to pass to mount but Karaev is defending the position.
Shishkin is looking to take a break and control but Karaev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shishkin wants to pass the guard but Karaev is defending well.

Karaev is looking to control Shishkin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Karaev avoid being mounted?
Shishkin seems to be working for a kimura but Karaev defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Karaev's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Karaev duly obliges.
It looks like Alexey Shishkin has been cut.
Shishkin needs to keep his hands up - Karaev had a free shot at his head there.
Karaev throws a right hand that Shishkin ducks under and follows up with a left that Shishkin also avoids with ease.
Shishkin gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Karaev.
Shishkin dodges the punch combination from Karaev.
Shishkin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karaev darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Karaev drops Shishkin with a beautiful combination! Shishkin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Karaev is looking for the KO!
Shishkin is rocked!
Karaev steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Shishkin is out on his feet! Karaev sets himself and nearly takes Shishkin's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
