The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lester bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Thompson is not content to let Lester control the position.
Thompson is trying to get back to half guard.
Thompson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Thompson tries to strike but it doesn't land.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Thompson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lester sprawls well initially but Thompson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lester is trying to maintain the position but Thompson is very close to passing his half guard.

Lester is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That was a close round but I would say that Mo Lester will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Thompson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lester puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Lester wants to control but Thompson is keeping him busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thompson has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Lester. Oh but Thompson has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Lester goes limp - he's gone! Thompson jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
