PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Job Thunder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent The Vandal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying The Vandal's choice of entrance music: Astral Projection - Kabalah. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent The Vandal!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Vandal throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Thunder tries to close the distance and clinch but The Vandal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Thunder gets the takedown into side control.
The Vandal takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Thunder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The Vandal is looking to reverse the position.
The Vandal sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Thunder is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and The Vandal defends it well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The Vandal can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The Vandal sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Thunder to the ground! The Vandal dives into full mount looking to finish!


Thunder is rocked!
Thunder is desperately trying to improve his position but The Vandal has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Vandal is landing with some decent strikes but Thunder is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The Vandal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thunder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The Vandal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Thunder wants to control but The Vandal passes easily into half guard.

Thunder is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Thunder wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Vandal keeps working.
The Vandal wants to improve his position but Thunder is controlling well.
The Vandal regains full guard. Nicely done.

Thunder shoots in for a takedown but The Vandal shows good takedown defense.
Thunder shoots in looking for a takedown. The Vandal tries to sprawl out of it but Thunder keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Vandal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The Vandal closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Thunder here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

No joy there for The Vandal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The Vandal throws a right and a left that Thunder avoids nicely.
Thunder throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Vandal's waist but The Vandal gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thunder off to one side.

The Vandal throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thunder is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by The Vandal.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thunder closes the distance and clinches up with The Vandal, looking for a takedown. Thunder pushes The Vandal against the cage but The Vandal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The Vandal lands a big head kick that sends Thunder to the canvas! The Vandal follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
