Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luka Smeltz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barry Hill has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smeltz as he avoids it easily.

Smeltz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hill, pushing him back against the cage.
Smeltz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Smeltz jumps guard and drags Hill to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hill stays in close to Smeltz's body and controls the position.

Smeltz wants to sweep but no luck.
Smeltz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Let's hope that Hill has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

I looks like Hill might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Despite being in the dominant position, Barry Hill just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smeltz stuffs the takedown attempt from Hill. Hill gets slowly back to his feet.
Luka Smeltz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Hill.
Hill shoots in but no luck this time.

Hill lands with a thumping leg kick.
Barry Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hill shoots in for a double leg but Smeltz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smeltz dives in and grabs Hill's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hill pushes down on Smeltz's head and hops out.
Hill tries a head kick but it misses.
Hill throws a leg kick which misses Smeltz's front leg but catches the back leg as Smeltz tries to avoid it.
Hill swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Smeltz counters with a series of strikes. Hill will be more careful next time no doubt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hill misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Hill closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hill lands in his opponent's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hill cracks Smeltz with a solid left hand.
Hill is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hill is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Smeltz takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hill shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Smeltz drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hill gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hill is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smeltz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smeltz's back!
