Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Swick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Cruise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swick comes to the ring accompanied by A Little Less Conversation - Elvis Presley. Vince Cruise is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Vince Cruise!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swick throws out a loose jab but Cruise uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cruise lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Swick gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Cruise waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Swick.
Swick moves out of range of the strikes.
Swick misses with a head kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Swick misses the target.
Cruise is looking to clinch.
Cruise misses with the combination.
Cruise misses with a body kick.
Cruise tries to clinch but Swick moves out of range.
Cruise listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Vince Cruise seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruise is trying hard to land a takedown here. Swick sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Cruise tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Swick paws at him with a jab and circles away.

enabling Swick to counter with a crisp jab.

Cruise closes the distance looking to clinch
and Swick counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Swick throws a leg kick but Cruise moved away.
Swick takes a swing at Cruise's ribcage but misses.
Cruise thows a leg kick but Swick checks it
and Swick counters with an outside leg kick.
Cruise fails with an attempt to clinch.
Swick lands with a straight right. Cruise didn't see that one coming.
Swick tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cruise wants to clinch but Swick slips to the side
and Swick cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Swick misses with a head kick.

Cruise shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Swick pinned against the cage. Swick gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jake Swick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vince Cruise.

Swick avoids the head kick by Cruise.

Cruise dodges the punch combination from Swick.

and Swick counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Cruise counters with a one-two to the body.
Cruise fails in his attempt to clinch.
Swick misses with a low kick as Cruise jumps back.
A combination from Swick does no damage.
Swick throws a push kick but Cruise slaps the foot to one side.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Swick throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cruise counters with a left and a right that stings Swick.
A cross from Swick lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Cruise shoots for a double leg takedown but Swick sprawls well. He's pushed Cruise's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A slapping leg kick lands for Swick.
Cruise tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Swick counters with a left to the body.
Swick lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Swick.

and Swick counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cruise shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Swick napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cruise is breathing heavily.
Swick is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Cruise wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swick keeps working.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Cruise tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cruise has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cruise with the ground and pound but Swick regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Swick wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cruise trying to control from half guard but Swick is working away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Swick tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cruise was well out of range. Poor timing from Swick.
Cruise throws a right and a left that Swick avoids nicely.
Cruise tries to clinch
and Swick counters with a solid body kick.
Jake Swick is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A big right from Cruise misses.
Cruise closes the distance but Swick moves to the side
and Swick cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Cruise shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Swick but Swick pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Cruise closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Swick to the mat! Swick manages to get full guard.

Cruise postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Swick is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cruise, into his guard.

Swick decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cruise, up you get!

and Swick counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Cruise is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Swick looks to land a combination but Cruise avoids it well.
Cruise tries for a takedown but Swick sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Swick slaps away a takedown attempt from Cruise, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Cruise tries to clinch there but Swick circles away.

and Swick counters with a low kick, right behind Cruise 's knee.
Vince Cruise has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jake Swick is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cruise throws a left and a right that both miss
and Swick connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cruise darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Swick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cruise can do to turn this around?
