PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodolfo Nagamine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Stackhouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jason Stackhouse was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rodolfo Nagamine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Stackhouse!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stackhouse gets caught flat footed, as Nagamine shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Stackhouse utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nagamine trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nagamine loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Nagamine is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Nagamine with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stackhouse managing to control the position.
Stackhouse looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Nagamine puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Stackhouse misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Stackhouse pushes Nagamine off and gets back to his feet.
Nagamine dives in and grabs Stackhouse's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stackhouse pushes down on Nagamine's head and hops out.

and Nagamine counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Nagamine slips nicely into half guard.
Stackhouse is trying to stand up here but Nagamine is controlling him well.
Nagamine is breathing heavily.
Stackhouse is trying to control but can't.
Nagamine prevents Stackhouse from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nagamine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stackhouse doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nagamine.

Nagamine drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stackhouse manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nagamine has Stackhouse in his guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stackhouse slips nicely into half guard.
Stackhouse takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Stackhouse wants to stand but Nagamine has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Stackhouse decides to stand and escape the position.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Nagamine.
Nagamine misses with the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stackhouse sneaks back into half guard.

Nagamine is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Nagamine is looking for a kimura but Stackhouse is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nagamine to get the leverage.

Nagamine is trying to work for a kimura but Stackhouse is defending well.

Nagamine is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Stackhouse sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stackhouse has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nagamine's face.

Stackhouse stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Nagamine has gone for a leg lock! Stackhouse slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nagamine's guard.

Nagamine is looking for a triangle but Stackhouse pushes his legs off easily.

so Nagamine counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stackhouse seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nagamine passes Stackhouse's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Nagamine is working for a kimura but Stackhouse is defending it quite comfortably.
Stackhouse wants to control but Nagamine is keeping busy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stackhouse is controlling Nagamine's trapped leg to prevent Nagamine from advancing to side control.
Stackhouse is trying to get back to full guard.
Stackhouse is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Nagamine is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nagamine looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Stackhouse wants to control from the top but Nagamine keeps moving.
Stackhouse might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nagamine kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Nagamine has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stackhouse can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nagamine has his foot on Stackhouse's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stackhouse works his way back into a safe position though.

Stackhouse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nagamine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stackhouse has managed to get both his arms back between Nagamine's legs - danger averted.

Stackhouse avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Nagamine looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Stackhouse has picked Nagamine up and slammed him! Nagamine can't keep hold of the triangle and Stackhouse manages to pass to side control!

Nagamine manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Nagamine is not content to let Stackhouse control the position.

Nagamine looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Stackhouse working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Nagamine slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
