PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vasyl Lomachenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martial Serrano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lomachenko comes to the cage accompanied by Intro - DMX. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vasyl Lomachenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Martial Serrano!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lomachenko fails in his attempt to clinch.
Serrano looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lomachenko is fending him off so far but Serrano persists. Nope, Lomachenko circles away and we're back to standing.

Lomachenko closes the distance and clinches.

Lomachenko works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Serrano pushes Lomachenko off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Serrano thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Lomachenko if he has to take too many more of those.

Lomachenko attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Lomachenko doesn't manage to clinch there - Serrano circles away.
Lomachenko stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lomachenko wants it to stay on the feet.
Lomachenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lomachenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Serrano sprawls well. He's pushed Lomachenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Serrano counters with a shoot takedown. Lomachenko fights it but they end up in guard.
Lomachenko is breathing heavily.
Serrano is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Serrano wants to pass the guard but Lomachenko is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Serrano trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lomachenko's guard.
Serrano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lomachenko swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Serrano drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lomachenko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Serrano has Lomachenko in his guard.
Lomachenko looking to sit in guard and control but Serrano gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lomachenko is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Serrano wants to control from the top but Lomachenko keeps moving.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martial Serrano dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Serrano connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Serrano looks to land a combination but Lomachenko avoids it well.

Serrano drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lomachenko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Serrano manages to get himself to full guard.
Serrano not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lomachenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Serrano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Serrano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lomachenko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Serrano can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lomachenko controls the pace.
Serrano is pulling down on Lomachenko's head to control his posture.

Serrano wants to get back to his feet.
Serrano is looking to control Lomachenko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Serrano avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lomachenko postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Serrano to stand up.
Nice takedown defense from Serrano. No joy for Lomachenko on that attempt.
Lomachenko stuffs the takedown attempt from Serrano. Serrano gets slowly back to his feet.
Serrano doesn't manage to clinch there - Lomachenko circles away.
Lomachenko is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Serrano looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lomachenko is fending him off so far but Serrano persists. Nope, Lomachenko circles away and we're back to standing.

Lomachenko clinches up with Serrano and pushes him back against the cage.
Serrano wants a takedown but no success here.
Vasyl Lomachenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martial Serrano.

Lomachenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vasyl Lomachenko will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Lomachenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Serrano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lomachenko shoots in for a double leg but Serrano sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Serrano shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Serrano showed some decent athleticism there.
Lomachenko is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Serrano's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Serrano's back!

Serrano trying to control the action but Lomachenko just sinks the hooks in.

Serrano breaks Lomachenko's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Lomachenko is trying to control the position but Serrano postures up.
Serrano working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lomachenko is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lomachenko is pulling down on Serrano's head to control his posture.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Serrano moves into range and clinches up with Lomachenko.

Lomachenko breaks the clinch.
Serrano tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lomachenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lomachenko fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lomachenko clinches but Serrano breaks the clinch
and Serrano counters with a body kick that stops Lomachenko in his tracks momentarily.
Lomachenko slips a jab and a cross from Serrano.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Serrano feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Martial Serrano has got the better of the ground game so far.

Serrano postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lomachenko is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Serrano, into his guard.

Serrano wants to sweep here but Lomachenko controlling him for the moment.

Lomachenko stands up and waves to Serrano to follow him.

Martial Serrano comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Serrano has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
