PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Henk de Vries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jas Tine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jas Tine was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Henk de Vries!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jas Tine!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

de Vries clinches up against the cage.
Tine looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
de Vries tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Tine just stands there and leans against the cage.

de Vries manages to break the clinch.
de Vries misses with the combination.

de Vries has Tine up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A body shot lands from de Vries.
Tine is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
de Vries drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tine gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tine is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Tine is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

de Vries pulls guard successfully.
de Vries is trying to control the position but Tine postures up.

de Vries scrambles and gets back to his feet.
de Vries shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tine as he jumps to the side.

de Vries has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Tine postures up.

Tine drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but de Vries manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tine has de Vries in his guard.
de Vries knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tine on the ground.
Tine avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
de Vries thows a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



de Vries clinches with his opponent.
Tine is trying to drag de Vries to the mat but de Vries just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
de Vries drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tine gets the underhooks and prevents it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
de Vries misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

de Vries shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tine napping and manages to drive through into side control!

de Vries can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tine is looking to escape.
Tine is looking to improve his position but de Vries isn't that keen on the idea.

de Vries keeps control of the position easily here as Tine tries to buck him off.
de Vries punches the canvas rather than the man.

de Vries is looking for the choke from the back position but Tine is controlling his hands well.
Tine staying busy and making it hard for de Vries to control.
Tine tries to escape the position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - de Vries's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tine rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Tine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but de Vries pulls his head out easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henk de Vries dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
de Vries looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
de Vries wants to control but Tine is keeping him busy.

Tine tries to roll over but de Vries keeps him under control.
de Vries wants to take a breather but Tine is having none of it.
de Vries is really struggling to control Tine but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Tine is not content to let de Vries control the position.
Henk de Vries is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
de Vries shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

de Vries pushes Tine off looking to stand but Tine dives back in and keeps control.
de Vries wants to get back to full guard.

Tine is working for a submission of some sort.

Tine wants to work for an arm triangle but de Vries is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Tine is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Tine is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
de Vries wants to control but Tine is keeping busy.

Jas Tine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think de Vries has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
