Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Kokucka!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn drops Kokucka with a beautiful combination! Kokucka stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Penn is looking for the KO!


It looks like Jason Kokucka has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nice sprawl there from Penn as Kokucka shoots in.
Penn throws a right and a left that both miss.

Kokucka drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Penn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kokucka has Penn in his guard.
Penn wants to get up but he can't break Kokucka's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Penn tries to pass to full mount but Kokucka defends it.

Kokucka pushes Penn off and gets back to his feet.

Kokucka closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Penn did well to prevent Kokucka getting side control.
Penn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kokucka on the ground.

Penn is looking to escape.

Penn is staying active underneath Kokucka, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Penn pushes Kokucka away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kokucka gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Kokucka works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kokucka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kokucka is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Kokucka is trying to break the clinch but Penn has him pressed against the cage.

Kokucka has his foot on Penn's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Penn works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn wants to stand but Kokucka has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kokucka swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Vitor Penn will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Penn throws a head kick that misses.
Penn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vitor Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kokucka uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Penn.
Kokucka slips a jab and a cross from Penn.

Kokucka is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Penn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kokucka wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penn, who protects the arm well.

Kokucka thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Penn wants to control but Kokucka is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Penn tries to kick Kokucka off but Kokucka keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Penn tries to clinch there but Kokucka circles away.

Kokucka is trying to get an arm triangle but Penn is defending well.

Kokucka decides to stand up, so the ref orders Penn to his feet.

Penn throws the left hand but Kokucka avoids the punch easily.
Kokucka swats away the attempt to clinch by Penn.

Kokucka gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kokucka tries to land knees in the clinch but Penn avoids the damage to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Kokucka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Penn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Penn uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Kokucka has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Penn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kokucka looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Penn has a hand on Kokucka's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kokucka takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Kokucka tries to control but Penn wriggling away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Penn is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kokucka has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Penn's face.

Kokucka has isolated one of Penn's arms. Penn looking to fight him off but Kokucka twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
