PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brian Childs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and joel williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Childs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, joel williams!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Childs avoids a kick to the body.
williams tries to clinch up but Childs circles away and keeps his distance.
williams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Childs takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
williams shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Childs pinned against the cage. Childs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Childs ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
williams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Childs circles away quickly and effectively.
Horrible takedown by Childs or perhaps it was just good defense by williams which made him look bad.
williams throws a push kick but Childs slaps the foot to one side.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Childs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for williams on the ground.

williams throws a shot from downtown. Childs moves away and avoids it.
Childs fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but williams avoids it really well and circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
williams misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
