PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Roddick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Roddick might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins. Santos has chosen The Black Lodge as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos scoring well with a low kick there.
A lazy left from Santos finds it's target.
A head kick misses from Roddick.

Santos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Roddick moves into full guard.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Roddick is keeping the position.
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Roddick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Roddick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Santos manages to get himself to full guard.

Roddick stands up over Santos, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Roddick is squirming around, avoiding Santos's attempts to control the action.

Santos is landing with some decent strikes but Roddick is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Roddick is wriggling around trying to escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Roddick tries to hold on but Santos postures up.
Santos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Roddick is squirming around, avoiding Santos's attempts to control the action.
Roddick has decided that throwing punches whilst being mounted is the best he can manage just now.

Roddick manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Santos lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Roddick is in a horrible position here. Santos smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Roddick is trying to escape the mount.
The referee warns Roddick that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Santos trying to control but he's not successful this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roddick is looking to improve his position but Santos isn't that keen on the idea.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Santos dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Santos.
Santos keeps Roddick at a distance using the push kick.

Roddick stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Santos.

It looks like Cain Roddick has been cut.
Santos looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Santos lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Santos lands with a big left! Roddick is wobbled badly! Santos comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Roddick to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
