PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cooley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Cooley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Brown!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooley shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Cooley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Brown gets caught flat footed, as Cooley shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Cooley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Brown working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Cooley has passed into half guard!
Brown is trying to control but can't.
Cooley thows a huge punch but Brown dodges it nicely.
Brown wants to control but Cooley is keeping busy.
Brown wants to get back to full guard but Cooley has passed into side control.

Cooley trying to control but Brown is having none of it.
Brown can't escape the position.
Cooley looking to ground and pound but Brown is blocking nicely.
Brown is looking to improve his position but Cooley isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooley is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
A nice combination there by Brown.


It looks like Daniel Cooley has been cut.
Cooley is breathing heavily.
Brown goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Brown circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brown will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Brown lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cooley gets a takedown into half guard.
Brown is pressing down on Cooley's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Brown looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Brown has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cooley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Brown is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cooley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cooley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Brown isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cooley stacks Brown on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cooley!
Brown can't do much from the bottom here.

Brown sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Brown kicks Cooley off and gets back to his feet.
Brown's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Brown duly obliges.


Daniel Cooley's cut is getting worse.
Brown ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Brown throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cooley stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nice uppercut lands for Brown. That snapped Cooley's head back.
Brown connects with a body shot.
Brown scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Cooley, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Cooley against the cage but Cooley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice shot lands for Brown.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brown has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Cooley doesn't defend quickly enough and Brown has managed to lock this one up! Can Cooley escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Brown on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Brown!
