Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shin Ya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaka Zulu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shaka Zulu!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ya shoots in for a takedown but Zulu shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ya slips a straight right by Zulu.

Zulu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ya is trying to control Zulu's posture but Zulu avoids it.

Zulu swings around for an armbar but Ya sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Zulu's guard.
Ya content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Zulu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ya's guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Zulu working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ya's head.
Zulu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ya swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Zulu trying to control but Ya is working from the bottom.
Zulu must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ya pulls Zulu in close to prevent any damage.
Ya looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ya looking to control.
Ya keeping moving, preventing Zulu from controlling successfully.
Zulu passes into half guard.
Zulu wants to control but Ya is keeping him busy.
Zulu prevents Ya from improving his position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Zulu is keen to just control but Ya is a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Zulu scores with a head kick.
Ya doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Zulu counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ya!
Ya slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Ya works his way to full guard. Good work.
Ya seems keen to control Zulu's posture.

Zulu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ya looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ya looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ya!

Zulu misses with an elbow from the bottom.

Ya thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Zulu managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ya.
Zulu trying his best to control but Ya has mounted him.
Ya pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Zulu wants to control but Ya is having none of it.
Zulu is wriggling around trying to escape.

Ya is working for a kimura but Zulu is defending it quite comfortably.

Zulu tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Ya is sitting in close to Zulu's body. Zulu has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ya is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ya is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Zulu.
