Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ed Larson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ed Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson is looking to clinch.

Larson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Patterson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Larson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Patterson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Patterson has escaped and now he's on top!

Larson looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Patterson has picked Larson up and slammed him! Larson can't keep hold of the triangle and Patterson manages to pass to side control!

Patterson is trying to stick to Larson's back but Larson is turning into Patterson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Patterson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Larson.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Patterson pushes Larson off and scrambles back to his feet.

Patterson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Larson manages to get himself to full guard.

Patterson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Larson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Patterson has Larson in his guard.

Larson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Larson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Patterson tries to pass to full mount but Larson defends it.
Patterson tries to stand and escape but Larson is controlling the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Ed Larson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Patterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Larson is trying to maintain the position but Patterson is very close to passing his half guard.

Patterson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Anthony Patterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
